Sections of RSIAS
The structure of the Russian section of IAS provides an opportunity for the individual members of academy, depending on sphere of their scientific interests and activity, to be united in branches RS IAS.
Since 1999 within the framework of Academy function:
ECOLOGICAL SECTION of RSIAS
Ecological Branch of the Russian Section of IAS was founded in May 1999 as an independent division which unites scientists, politicians, public figures who are profoundly and professionally engaged in the problems of animate nature preservation on the earth, restoration of bio-varieties, ecological safety, stable development of world civilization, ecological education, in forming of ecological culture for the world’s population and optimization of interrelations between nature and human beings.
More than 70 scientists - representatives of different institutes of higher education, colleges and scientific research centers of Russia, public figures and state employees representing large industrial enterprises, financial structures, Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Foreign Trade of the Russian Federation and others constitute the branch.
The activity of the Ecological Branch of IAS is coordinated by the Bureau consisting of 7 persons and is headed by professor Glazachev Stanislav Nikolaevich, academic-secretary of the Russian Section of IAS.
The division focuses its efforts on organization and holding of subject conferences, seminars, symposia, publication of books and booklets (see site “Publications and Discussions”, “Forums and Collaboration”. For the recent 2 years the Ecological Branch of the Russian Section of IAS has initiated and participated in the following events:
1. International Project “World ecological culture” – publication of books about the experience of forming ecological awareness in Russia and other countries of the world (3 books have been published in cooperation with Germany, Yugoslavia and Belarus)
2. Organization and holding of contests – projects for young people:
- “The Earth –2000: Planet’s image”
- “RIO + 10: projects and performances” devoted to the Summit on stable development in Johannesburg (SAR) (in cooperation with Journal “Lazur”)
3. Publication of a series of booklets “World’s Culture: a glance from Russia”
4. The Conferences held in the North Caucasus:
- International Conference “World’s Culture and tolerance in open education” under the aegis of UNESCO (Stavropol, April-May 2002)
- Dombay Forum on Intellectual harmony and good neighborly relations (Dombay, October 2002).
5. Participation of the scientists of the Ecological Branch of the Russian Section of IAS in organization of XXI World Philosophical Congress “Philosophy faces the world’s problems” (Istanbul, Turkey, August 10-17, 2003). Publication of Encyclopedia “Globalistics” in Russian and English is planned.
In realization of applied projects the Ecological Branch has been closely working with Intereducational Center on development of technologies of ecologo-pedagogical education, International Institute of Social Physiology, Russian Academy of Ecology.
SECTION of MEDICAL and BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES
The Section of medical and biological sciences of RSIAS functions within the framework of the Russian section of IAS since 2001.
SECTION of INFORMATICS and ELECTRONICS
The Section of computer science and electronics of RSIAS functions within the framework of the Russian section of IAS since 2002.
