RSIAS: past, present, future

The Russian Section of the International Academy of Science (RS /IAS) was founded in 1993 at the Constituent Assembly held at P.K. Anokhin Institute of Normal Physiology in Moscow. Prominent scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the Russian Academy of Education and some other scientific and educational institutions of Russia have become its members. In 1999 RS/IAS was reregistered as a branch of foreign public organization in Russia under the name "Russian Section of International Academy of Science".

The main goals and tasks of the Russian Section of IAS:

- participation in research of global significance and scientific implementation of acute social problems, improvement and promotion of creative potential of scientists, engineers, social figures, cultural workers, artists and others;

- representation of IAS in various domains of human activity aimed at the promotion of science and technology, culture and art, social and economic consolidation of people on the territory of the Russian Federation;

- selection and submission of candidates for RS/IAS membership for approval by Presidium of IAS ( Russian and foreign members);

- popularization and promotion of achievements in science, technics, culture and art by scientific informational, popular and educational publishing in the Russian Federation, organization of information service and publishing activities in the interest of RS/IAS;

- public discussion and submission of works of Russian scientists, public and social figures, persons of culture, artists as competitors for various prizes of IAS and other international prizes;

- consulting, information and methodical support to organizations realizing scientific, technical, public, social and cultural activity under the aegis if IAS;

- promotion of the results of scientific and creative activity of Russian scientists in the world, organization of scientific connections between scientists, public and cultural figures for the development of international scientific cooperation.

The Russian Section of IAS according to the Charter of IAS consists of academics, associated members, honorable and collective members elected at the Meetings of Directorate of RS. Decisions of Directorate of RS IAS are approved by Presidium of IAS.
