Brief information
The International Council for Scientific Development and its central body -the International Academy of Science (ICSD/IAS) was founded in 1980 on the initiative of a twice Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling and other eminent scientists of the world community.
The main scope if ICSD/IAS is to unite the efforts of scientists from different continents on the solution of global problems facing the mankind of the contemporary world: ecologye, pioneering of cosmos and world ocean and others). Among them the leading one is a medical biological problem of human health promotion, maintenance of moral and cultural values of the humanity.
ICSD/IAS is an international non-governmental interdisciplinary organization, registered in Paris (France), Munich Germany) and in 2001 in Innsbruck (Austria).
The general methodology of ICSD/IAS members is a system approach to understanding of natural and social phenomena.
Due to international character of common scientific knowledge the members of IAS are aware that the further development of mankind could be realized not by revolution or violence but rather by science, by creative work, on the basis of a system organization of natural and social phenomena.
The International Academy of Science unites prominent scientists, science organizers, politicians and public figures form all over the world. Among them 120 laureates of Nobel Prize, 30 former and acting ministers, members of more than 80 national academies. Over 40 universities from different countries and many research centers are collective members. The following national sections of IAS has been founded and actively work: German, French, Indian, Japanese, East-European and some others.
In 1993 the Russian Section of IAS was founded in Moscow. Prominent scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the Russian Academy of Education and some others are members of the Russian Section (RS). The outstanding representatives of the Russian scientific community N.N. Moiseev, V.I. Pokrovsky, N.G. Basov, A.I. Prokhorov, K.V. Sudakov, N.P. Lavyorov , F.I. Komarov and others stood at the roots of its foundation.
RS/IAS as an organization consists of individual and collective members.
Status of individual members - members (academics) of RS/IAS; associated members (corresponding members) of RS IAS, honorary members of RS IAS.
Individual members depending on the domain of scientific interests and activities enter the divisions of RS/ IAS.
In 1999 Ecological division of RS/ IAS was founded; in 2001 -medico-biological one; in 2002- a division of Information and Electronics.
Co-Presidents, General Director and Directorate of RS IAS are in power of the Section.
The principal decisions are taken by qualified majority of the Directorate. Informational decisions for all members of the Section are taken at Annual Sessions of the RS by open voting.
